Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Practitioners are advance practice nurses with additional training, often at the Masters or PhD level, who provide healthcare services similar to those of a doctor. They have a unique approach focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, and parent education. Our two highly qualified pediatric nurse practitioners meet with families for well visits and acute illnesses for children of any age, but particularly at the six-month and fifteen-month well visits, to promote nutritional, safety, and sleep counseling. They always practice under the supervision of the Altos Pediatrics pediatricians.

Janice Apol, RN, PNP

Janice Apol, RN, PNP Janice joined Altos Pediatrics in 1998. She received her Diploma in Nursing at Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She completed her Master of Science in Maternal-Child Health as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pediatrics at Boston College School of Nursing in Massachusetts. She has been certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and has worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner since 1982.

Her nursing experience includes working in adult and pediatric intensive care units for a number of years. She has also cared for high-risk infants in neonatal intensive care units and was part of The Infant Health and Development Program, a research study for high-risk infants. In addition, she also worked as a visiting nurse providing home care and health education for infants and children. She is licensed by the California Board of Registered Nursing to practice as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and is a member of the American Nurses Association as well as the California Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Janice and her husband, Dr. Mark McCormick, have two children. She enjoys reading, yoga, tap dancing, and going on walks with friends and her family.

Suing Siameng, RN, PNP

Suing Suing joined Altos Pediatrics in 2009. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science at University of California Berkley and went on to complete a Master of Science in nursing at Yale University School of Nursing. Her clinic experience includes pediatric primary care, at-risk overweight and obese children, diabetes, and school health. She is licensed to practice as a PNP by the California Board of Registered Nursing and is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.

Suing is fluent in Mandarin. She enjoys volleyball, guitar, and cooking.
