Immunizations

The pediatricians at Altos Pediatrics strongly believe that immunizations are the most important medical advance of the past century in the prevention of childhood disease and the reduction of childhood mortality. In accordance with the guidelines established through the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Center for Disease Control, and the ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices), we feel that every child should receive these important vaccines in a timely fashion. The risk of NOT receiving the vaccines from both the individual and public health point of view is significantly greater than the risk of the vaccines themselves.

Recommended Immunization Schedule for Persons Aged 0 Through 6 Years

This schedule indicates the recommended ages for routine administration of currently licensed vaccines, as of December 1, 2008, for children aged 0 through 6 years. Any dose not administered at the recommended age should be administered at a subsequent visit, when indicated and feasible. Licensed combination vaccines may be used whenever any component of the combination is indicated and other components are not contraindicated and if approved by the Food and Drug Administration for that dose of the series. Clinically significant adverse events that follow immunization should be reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).
